Bombay Potatoes

These potatoes make the perfect side dish to any Indian meal

Also known as Bombay Aloo, they make a regular appearance at our dinner table

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2lb baby potatoes (washed)
  • 3 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • To taste salt
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
  • 240ml water
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

When entering cooking mode - We will enable your screen to stay ‘always on’ to avoid any unnecessary interruptions whilst you cook!

Method

  • Step 1

    Press Saute to pre heat the Ninja Foodi Multi-Cooker

  • Step 2

    Once hot, add oil or ghee

  • Step 3

    Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds, saute for 30 seconds or until you can hear crackling

  • Step 4

    Add the potatoes, garlic and salt. Saute for 8 – 10 minutes

  • Step 5

    Pierce the potatoes slightly using the tip of a knife

  • Step 6

    Stir in the coriander, cumin, red chilli powder and turmeric and quickly stir to coat. Then pour in the water

  • Step 7

    Assemble the pressure cooking lid and place it to the lock position. Press manual and pressure cook for 11 minutes

  • Step 8

    Use the quick pressure release function by pressing cancel, and carefully turning the steam release to the venting position

  • Step 9

    Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice
