Cooking mode

- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 175ml warm milk
- 250g all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 150ml warm water
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Oil, for frying
Utensils
- 4 x crumpet rings

Step 1
Attach the hand mixer attachment to the power base then assemble the dough hooks.

In a large mixing bowl, add milk, sugar, yeast and stir until yeast dissolved. Then add flour and salt. Select power to begin mixing starting on speed 1 and slowly increasing to speed 4 until dough is smooth and combined. The dough will be slightly wet.

Cover the bowl with a wet tea towel and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, dissolve the baking powder in warm water and add it to the dough. Select power and press the up arrow to begin mixing on speed one. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated, and you have a smooth wet dough mixture. Allow to rise for 30 minutes.

After the dough has risen and created visible bubbles, place a large frying pan over medium heat.

Grease out 4 crumpet rings and add a little oil to the pan.

Once heated, divide half of the dough between 4 crumpet rings. Cook for approximately 12 minutes. When firm bubbles appear and the top of crumpets feels dry, flip them, and cook for additional 1-2 minutes.

Repeat step 7 with the remaining dough.

Serve crumpets with butter or your favorite topping.
