Ingredients

  • 270g plain flour
  • 6g baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp chives, finely chopped
  • 40g mature cheddar, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 100g butter, softened
  • 60g crème fraiche
  • 1 egg & 1 tbsp milk for brushing

Method

  • Step 1

    In a large bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt, chives and cheddar. Mix well and then add egg, softened butter and crème fraiche. Combine as well as you can, then place on a clean surface and knead only until all loose flour has been worked into the dough. You don’t want to overwork the dough because scones should be flaky and buttery

  • Step 2

    In the Ninja Foodi Health Grill & Air Fryer, use the cooking pot without grill plate or crisper basket installed. Close the lid. Select BAKE, set temperature to 170°C and set time to 17 minutes. Press START/STOP to begin preheating

  • Step 3

    While unit is preheating, roll out the dough approximately 3cm thick. Using a biscuit cutter cut out scones, rework left over dough and cut again

  • Step 4

    In a small bowl add egg and milk and combine well. Brush top of scones with egg mix

  • Step 5

    Once unit beeps to signify it has preheated, lightly spray the pot with cooking spray and add scones. Close hood to begin cooking

  • Step 6

    When cooking is complete, remove the scones and allow to cool down. Serve with butter, chutney or as a side to soups and stews
