Sage & Onion Chickpea Burger

A vegetarian Christmas burger fit for all! This sage & onion chickpea burger is loaded with festive flavour and pairs perfectly with a little cranberry sauce and fresh rocket in a seeded bun.

Cooking mode

  • 1 x 400g tin chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 4 tbsp gluten free flour
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for cooking)
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 8g fresh sage
  • 4g fresh thyme
  • Salt & pepper

Utensils

  • Step 1

    Add the onion, garlic and herbs to your food processor and blend to chop everything well.

  • Step 2

    Drain and rinse the chickpeas then add to the food processor along with all the remaining ingredients. Blitz until a thick, slightly chunky mixture forms.

  • Step 3

    Take around 2 tablespoons of the mixture and mould into burger shapes using your hands. Repeat until the mixture is used up.

  • Step 4

    Heat around 3 tbsp olive oil in a frying pan. Carefully place the burger patties in the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side before flipping and cooking for further 5 minutes on the other side.
