Spicy Baked Beans

  • 500g dried broad beans
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes or 400 ml tomato passata
  • 1/2L water
  • 2 shallots
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp tomato pure
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2-3 tbsp flour
  • Bay leaf
  • 1 tsp majoran
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chilli
  • 1 fresh hot chilli
  • Salt and pepper
  • Bread to serve

When entering cooking mode - We will enable your screen to stay ‘always on’ to avoid any unnecessary interruptions whilst you cook!


  • Step 1

    Soak the beans in cold water overnight.

  • Step 2

    Set the foodi on sauté. Add the oil and shallots to the foodi and fry until golden brown.

  • Step 3

    Add the beans and change the setting to pressure cooking.

  • Step 4

    Add the tomatoes and rest of the ingredients, apart from butter and flour. Set the heat on high and 20 min timer.

  • Step 5

    One the timer has ended and the beans are cooked, change the setting back to sauté.

  • Step 6

    In the mean time melt the butter, add the flour and mix well until combined.

  • Step 7

    Add the butter mixture to beans and mix well.

  • Step 8

    Serve hot with fresh bread
