Tempeh Toasted Sandwich

Think BLT, but instead of bacon we have the tastiest smokiest tempeh slices which will fully convert you. Cooked beautifully by the air fryer function of the Foodi, this again proves the Foodi is a kitchen gadget we all need in our lives.

Utensils required


  • 250g tempeh (sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 1/2 tbsp tamari
  • 3/4 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ketchup
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Pinch of chipotle flakes (optional)
  • Lettuce
  • 1 large beef tomato(sliced)
  • Vegan mayonnaise
  • 4 slices of bread

Cooking mode

When entering cooking mode - We will enable your screen to stay ‘always on’ to avoid any unnecessary interruptions whilst you cook!


  • Step 1

    Combine the garlic powder, onion powder, liquid smoke, tamari, paprika, ketchup, pepper and chipotle flakes in a bowl.

  • Step 2

    Next coat the tempeh slices evenly in the mixture and place them in the ninja foodi. Cook on the air fryer setting at 200c for 10 minutes.

  • Step 3

    Meanwhile toast your bread if preferred and spread mayonnaise on one side of each.

  • Step 4

    Load the sandwich up with sliced tomatoes, lettuce and tempeh. Enjoy!
