Chicken Gyros

These tasty Chicken Gyros are the perfect sharing meal with an authentic taste of Greece! They can be served with a range of different sides such as flatbreads, wraps and salad!

Cooking mode

When entering cooking mode - We will enable your screen to stay ‘always on’ to avoid any unnecessary interruptions whilst you cook!

  • 6 chicken thighs
  • 4 tbsp Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tsp garlic puree
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Pinch salt
  • 3 large white potatoes
  • 1 + 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 for marinade and 1 for chips

Utensils

  • Step 1

    Make the marinade for your chicken thighs by combining the Greek yoghurt, garlic puree, oregano, paprika, thyme, lemon juice, salt, and olive oil. Once made, mix your chicken thighs into the marinade, and leave covered in the fridge for at least an hour, but the longer the better!

  • Step 2

    While the chicken in marinading, peel the potatoes and cut into thin chips and place the chips into a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes. This removes some of the starch and helps them become crispier when air frying them

  • Step 3

    Remove the chips from the water and with a clean cloth pat them dry and leave to dry out for a further 30 minutes

  • Step 4

    Using the Air Fry option on your Ninja SmartLid Multi-Cooker place the raised wire rack in and pour 200ml of water into the bottom, then place the marinaded chicken thighs onto the rack and set the time for 20 minutes

  • Step 5

    After 20 minutes check that the thighs are fully cooked (no pink meat inside), you can then remove the rack and cover the thighs in foil

  • Step 6

    Cover your chips in the remaining olive oil and season with salt. Using the Air Fryer option on your Ninja SmartLid Multi-Cooker cook the chips for 20 minutes shaking them halfway through

  • Step 7

    Add the chicken thighs back into your Ninja SmartLid Multi-Cooker with the chips and Air Fry for a further 5 minutes

  • Step 8

    Shred the chicken and serve with your choice of salad and flatbreads
