For the balsamic dressing

  • 125ml balsamic vinegar
  • 90ml soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper

For the tuna

  • 4 Albacore tuna steaks (roughly 110g each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Cracked black pepper to season

For the salad

  • 1 x 120g bag salad leaves (washed and dried)
  • 1 medium avocado (diced, tossed in 1 tbsp lemon juice)
  • 20 cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 6 medium-sized strawberries (hulled and quartered)
  • Large handful fresh basil leaves (roughly torn)
  • 2 tbsp chopped toasted almonds (roughly chopped)
  • 2 tbsp toasted seeds

Utensils

  • Step 1

Place all of the ingredients for the dressing in a heavy bottomed saucepan. Set on a medium heat and simmer until reduced by half. This will take roughly 20 to 25 minutes. Leave to cool completely.

  • Step 2

Install the grill plate by sliding it into the front of the base so it hooks in, then press down on the back until it clicks into place. Place flat plate
on top of grill plate so it sits level. Close the lid. Select FLAT PLATE, set temperature to 200°C, and set time to 3 minutes. Press the dial to begin preheating.

  • Step 3

Whilst the unit is pre-heating, brush the tuna steaks with oil then sprinkle over black pepper. Then brush each steak with 1 to 2 tablespoons of the balsamic dressing.

  • Step 4

Once the unit has pre-heated place the tuna steaks on the flat plate and cook for 1 minute and 30 seconds before flipping with silicone tongs. Close the lid and cook for the remaining time. Once cooking has finished remove the steaks from the unit and place onto a plate. Cover with foil and leave to rest for 5 minutes.

  • Step 5

Whilst the tuna is resting place all of the salad ingredients into a large bowl. Drizzle over 4 tablespoons of balsamic dressing and mix together until evenly coated.

  • Step 6

Serve with the tuna steak and drizzle over more balsamic dressing.
