Poached Summer Fruits

TIP: The poaching liquid can be reduced by boiling for 10 minutes if a thicker syrup is required. Use a potato peeler to remove zest from lemon.

Cooking mode

  • 200g caster sugar
  • 500ml water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 lemon peel strips
  • 2 tbsp rum (optional)
  • 2 pears, quartered, stalk and core removed
  • 2 yellow peaches, stoned, halved
  • 2 white nectarines, stoned, halved
  • 200g cherries, halved, stones removed

Utensils

  • Step 1

    In the Ninja PossiblePan, add sugar, water, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, lemon peel, and rum. Set the pan over a medium heat and stir ingredients together until sugar fully dissolves. Turn hob to medium-high heat and boil liquid for 5 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Add the pears and cover the pan with the lid. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, making sure to turn pears after 5 minutes. Add the peaches and nectarines. Cook covered for another 5 minutes. Add the cherries and cook covered for 2 minutes. 

  • Step 3

    When cooking is complete, use a spoon to remove and discard cinnamon, anise, cloves, and lemon peel. Serve hot or cold.
